Dear parents, families, students and community members,
b kinder day
As many of you know, we are a b kinder school. This means we actively support the b kinder foundation, encouraging our students to be kind, empathetic, and compassionate. Our Grade 6 Leaders spearheaded this initiative yesterday by promoting b kinder day.
On b kinder day, children across Australia are encouraged to write cards to someone they care about. These cards, containing heartfelt messages of kindness, are then given or posted to the recipients. Yesterday, all our students participated by writing cards to people they care about.
Additionally, our Grade 6 Student Leaders performed a play for the rest of the cohort, highlighting the importance of kindness and adhering to school rules. It was a delight to watch, and we extend our gratitude to the student leaders and Mrs Kirkham-Phillips for organising the play.
Our Grade 6 Leaders also organised a fundraiser for the East Coast Salvos, selling cupcakes and icypoles in support of the Red Shield Appeal. We are pleased to announce that we raised over $118, which will be donated directly to the Salvos.
We are proud to be a b kinder school and encourage everyone to embrace kindness in their daily lives.

ABC LEARNING - KINDER
Olivia “Words! We have been learning about ‘words’ with Miss Pearce!”
This fortnight in grade 2/3, we’ve been working really hard on perfecting our sentences and handwriting. We have been using words with irregular spelling patterns in our sentences, remembering our capital letters and sentence endings.
We’re engaging with soccer in PE. Our class has been having a wonderful time building our skills and will look forward to putting these into a game format over the coming weeks.
We’ve also been using technology to create our animal information reports. Stay tuned for these soon, as we’ll be presenting them in our end of term assembly next week.

Differentiating between facts and opinions has been quite the challenge for the students in 456! We timed ourselves during some learning games to determine who knew the differences and then the learners formed their very own facts and opinions to keep each other on point. Lots of laughs occurred as well as some amazing learning amongst the 456 peers.
Then there was the ever-continuing animal adaptation challenging art task. The 456 students designed an animal that consisted of at least three different animals. The artistic 456 students then drew their animal concept, gave their design a name and eventually set out to create this unique animal using lots of 3D recycled materials. The really fun part was watching the various paper mache techniques that were used to bring these specials creations to life. We can’t wait to share these magical creatures and show our artistic talents!
It's also been wonderful welcoming our new student Tarragon into our flexible learning environment!

3-Way Conversations (parent/student/teacher) will take place on Tuesday, 1st July, Wednesday, 2nd July, and Thursday, 3rd July. These conversations provide valuable opportunities to discuss your child's progress in both learning and social aspects. We will also focus on current achievements and future goals, fostering a collaborative relationship between the school and your family.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time to receive and review your child's report before the meeting.
For our K/P/1 class:
- Elise Wells will be available on Tuesday.
- Both Elise Wells will be available on Wednesday.
- Kate Pearce will be available on Thursday.
To book a time slot, please use the link Swansea Primary School. Each conversation will last 15 minutes. If you are unable to attend any of the allocated times, please contact your child's teacher to arrange another suitable time.

On the 2nd of June, a merry band of 21 runners set off to Bayview Secondary College for the SPSSA Cross Country event. The rain stayed away and it was great to see that our students represented Swansea Primary brilliantly. Our values were certainly displayed impeccably, with respectful and courageous attitudes. Great work to all of our runners!
The rain drizzled, the clouds were ready to unleash, but they held it together for our team of 10 SPS students to have a wonderful time at the Tasmanian All Schools Cross Country Championships on the 17th of June. Luckily the fog cleared too! Our runners gave it their all to compete in the 2km (grades 3 and 4) and 3km (grades 5 and 6) races amidst mud, drizzle and log crossings! There were many tired faces but still with happy smiles on the way home. Congratulations to all of our cross country champs. You’ve done a great job!
The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) booklists open doors to a rich collection of children’s literature representing a range of books including fiction, non-fiction, picture books, poetry and drama, and include a wide variety of Australian authors.
Students can read any books, in any format. This includes print, digital, audiobooks and graphic novels. For younger children, a book that is read aloud by an adult counts toward their total.
As a first step, you can unlock a world of imagination and knowledge right at your fingertips by visiting your school library.
Reading helps children to understand the world they live in. It sparks curiosity, nurtures imagination, and is fun to do. Reading is integral to developing vital literacy skills and fostering independence and self-assurance.
The Challenge is most successful when parents show interest and support their children. Help your child with their reading challenge and you will be making a positive difference to their future.
Book Reviews in 2025!
Students are encouraged to share what they are reading by writing a book review for the PRC website. They can submit a review at any time during the Challenge using this online form (open from 16 June). Book Reviews will be updated at the end of each week of the Challenge.
By submitting a book review, students go into the draw to win a $50 book voucher. There are 12 up for grabs, 4 for each region! The prizes will be drawn once the PRC has finished, and the PRC Team will contact the PRC Coordinator or family of the winning students.

We are excited to share with you that we have a highly experienced therapy assistant trained in positive behaviour support available in the Swansea, Orford and Triabunna area.

Kids with Cancer - Georgie McShane
Help us change a child with cancer’s life by making them feel more confident
Thanks to our generous donors and energetic fundraisers, we can help transform lives and restore confidence to children living with a cancer diagnosis. Through our Wigs4Kids™ program, hair donations and fundraising efforts help create bespoke wigs for kids in need.
Your generous contributions will directly support the creation of bespoke wigs for kids with cancer, provide essential financial assistance to families in need, support vital cancer research, and fund clinical oncology positions, ensuring that every child facing a cancer diagnosis receives the care and support they deserve.
